Hi bros...

I've been using OpenLP in my church. Things I want to be great feature of this application is laying text over video, or having video as backgorund that works flawlessly and permanently. But this feature still seems to be struggled, looking for the solution.

I have no programming background, nor building applications. What I can do is taking a look at and using applications. That's why I say this is a thought from an idiot (me).

I think OpenLP development is giving focus, FIRSTLY at how to display text (lyrics) on the screen slide by slide (with accompanying features and controls), and SECONDLY, how to play a video BELOW it (correct me if I'm wrong). I can say this, one of some reasons, because OpenLP makes video to REPLACE background (though I know this is done for other reason).

At the other side, I see video player, just like VLC or SMPlayer. They are made in focus FIRSTLY at how to play video, and SECONDLY, how to display text (subtitle) OVER it, slide by slide. Each with its accompanying features and controls. And they works perfectly! The video can be played permanently (even when user changed subtitle text, eg. from English to Indonesian).

Also I see a commercial church projection application, EasyWorship - EW (I used it for a long time). It can project video just like VLC, and display text OVER it. Again, each is accompanied with features and controls.

With two things above I go to my idiot conclusion. Why OpenLP can't do what EW can? In fact, EW shows that making video as part of theme is not impossible. VLC, SMPlayer and other QT-BASED video player CAN surely play video and displaying subtitle perfectly (and not making CPU works hard).

I think the developer have to change the focus, not how to display text and THEN playing video BELOW it, but how to play video and THEN display text OVER it. Once more, Correct Me If I'm Wrong, but I hope this can be another thought to lead to the solution of this problem (and the problem of reversing color).

OpenLP can make video live with correct color, just adding text over it, right? Thanks.
