I have found it useful to record the service on an olympus recorder, at highest fidelity and mono recording, which the sound consol outputs, it will record 17 hours from a special feed on the sound counsel. It records in wma, and I adjust volumns at the sound counsel at the channel for recording. I have a computer that is internet broadcasting the service, but the small recorder saves the need for another computer.

I also have a problem of hum when I connect the Dell computer input to the sound consol. I have tried plugging in at the same strip that the sound consol plugs in, I have even gotten a different power plug, all to no avail.

I read the wma file from the recorder into a computer and use Audacity to generate the outputs I need. Audacity has a large number of filters, so that I can clean up any problems in recording. Also WMA has a greater dynamic range than MP3 so that it is more forgiving, and the converter in Audacity deals with that nicely.

The recorder fits in my pocket, and is a lot easier to have at the meetings than a computer. In addition, we have drama sometimes where not everyone is miked, the mic on the recorder does just fine in picking up the drama (a babies too).

We have another computer running openlp, just dedicated to presentation.
