Just found out that the Output area definitions in themes don't seem to be working in 1.9.11. Haven't been able to check on more than one system yet
This may or may not be related to your issue.
Yesterday during our service I found that one song with long lines had some words (when the word wrapping was just right) that appeared to go off the right hand edge of the display (display was 1024x768). The theme had Output Area Locations set to "Use default locations". To fix it I had to untick defaults and set the screen limits manually (x = 10px, width=1004px).
Here's where it may affect you. In order for these changes to show, I had to do the following. I had to change to another theme and display a song, then change back to the modified theme and display a song - then it seemed to read the new settings.
Screen limits are all set manually on my themes, I have to start them at 40px due to some plants that hang over the top of the screen. They worked in 1.9.10, but in 1.9.11 they seem to be using the default settings.
Just verified that it's the same on my laptop as on teh presentation machine. No matter what I set the Main Area height to, anywhere from 10px to 300+px it displays more of the lyrics than it should.
I've been waiting a while before upgrading - too much Olympic sport to see on the TV! Now, having read about this display area problem I am not sure about upgrading; the display area not working sounds like a serious handicap. Am I right to stick with v 1.9.10 for the time being?
This is working fine for me in 1.9.11. Could you export the theme causing you the trouble and attach it to an email to support at openlp dot org.
I could, but it's every theme I use, in fact, I think one or two of them are already in the gallery here.
Sent one of them in. Changing the WIDTH of the display area seems to work, and changing the start location works, just not the height of it.
Thanks, I will have a look at that.
How are your displays set up? What resoloution are your screeens?
Dual Monitors or Monitor Projector. Not sure what the production machine's primary monitor resolution is, but the projector and the 2nd monitor on my system are both set at 1024x768.
And I would add, the problem exists on every theme I have, including ones I created from scratch to see if that worked.
You'll be glad to hear that I have finally had a chance to sit down and look at OpenLP, and that I can reproduce your bug. I'm looking into it.
That's good news. I was coming back on to say I played around more just now, shfted the height from the 6xx default down to 100px, the layout preview always shows right, but when I go to next, where it shows the thumbnail, the whole text shows up, ignoring the settings, which is how the display actually works
That's because the theme preview, the slide controller previews, and the live display all use the same rendering engine (would be silly if they didn't!).
Has this been fixed in 1.9.12?
Still using 1.9.11 and wondering whether to update or not as it takes ages to download from Sourceforge on this connection for some reason...
Yes, I believe so.
