We (meaning me) are evaluating the possibility of switching to a more
robust and configurable Sunday morning presentation program. I first
evaluated OpenLP over a year ago...and it looked promising but needed a
lot of development. I have recently downloaded and examined the newest
version, and I am very impressed with the improvements.

One set
of features that I would strongly recommend is the ability, either
during setup or via modification of ini file settings is the
specification of file/save/data/program directories.

If I want to put the program in e:\MyProgs\OpenLP, then I would like to specify settings such as the following:

Bibles: E:\Church\Bibles
Services: E:\Church\Services
VLC: E:\MyProgs\VLC\VLC.exe
...
I
think you get the idea - a simple self-contained portable zipped
version (similar to the official "Portable Apps", but without even the
installation of all that stuff). However, there is now no way to "tell"
OpenLP where to store certain data and where to look for programs.
This is especially difficult for users who avoid registry modifications
and thus use portable (non-installation) versions of other programs
(such as VLC and others).

I've been looking to modify the paths
in the ini file for VLC or others, but to no avail - I've even tried
modifying my system environment variables, but that doesn't work either.

Any
chance of something like that coming along? I've got the Portable Apps
version for now and it works, but I'd like something a little more
configurable, if possible.

Thanks to all for their hard work - it is definitely paying off in the form of an attractive, stable, easy to use program...

Ran
