nathan_1163 I have a divx video file which works perfectly in VLC outside of OpenLP. However, when I try to play it within Open LP it says it is an unsupported filetype. Any ideas?
carl We had an issue a few months back where a file was being played in WebKit (and failing) because the extension wasn't recognised as being supported by VLC. I think this bug has been fixed but at the time the workaround was to rename the file to something standard like .avi (I don't think VLC actually uses the extension to identify the type of video). Worth a try.
googol Hello,

OpenLP uses the file extension to determine which backend should be used.

What extension does the file have? Or better: Tell us the filename.

Regards
nathan_1163 Thanks, Carl. That is exactly what is happening. If I rename it, then OpenLP doesn't complain.
Good to hear that the bug has been fixed and I look forward to it being rolled out in due course.
Cheers!
carl Glad that worked. It might be worth mentioning the exact file extension in case it's been forgotten from the list of supported extensions in OpenLP.

FYI my related question can be found at http://forums.openlp.org/discussion/comment/5328. The extension in question was .m4v which apparently VLC is not typically able to play, but in our case the file had been incorrectly named and so after changing the name, we were able to play it after all...
oiaohm google I just noticed this post. http://forums.openlp.org/discussion/comment/6097#Comment_6097 over there I comment about file extension to determine whitch back end. We really should change over to mine type. libmagic is out there for all openlp supported platforms.
