Hi

We have been using openLP for about 5 years, and over that time our database has become a bit of a mess. For one thing we use openLP on several different machines, and the databases diverge over time as different people add songs. And also, because we have imported songs from a number of sources, we have ended up with lots of duplicates.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I ended up writing a little program to help me tidy all this up. It allows you to selectively merge from one database into another, and also searches for duplicates and allows you to delete them with one click. It saved me a lot of time (our database reduced from 3800 to 3350 songs), so I thought it might be of use to somebody else. So if you'd like to try it, it's at
http://mathsanswers.org.uk/oddments/openlp
(scroll down for instructions on how to use it).

If you do try it, make a copy of your database first. I haven't had any trouble with it, but better to be safe!
I am planning to do some more on this, so if you have any suggestions, please post them here.

God bless

Andy
