Line Wrap Indentation

Hi there,

Love the software - keep up the good work guys! (Hoping better support for motion backgrounds soon )

In the features list it says:

• Ability to indent up to 10 character when line wrapping

This is feature I have been wanting for a while.. I updated to the latest version but I can't find out how to activate it.

Any thoughts?

Hi Adam,

Hrm, I see that on our features page, but I wasn't aware of the feature. On investigation, it seems that this is an item that was copied from the features page of a very early version of OpenLP, and it doesn't seem to be relevant any longer. My apologies, I'll remove it from the features page.

Having said that, you can do something of the sort using custom formatting tags.

I have entered the following to create a hanging indented paragraph, for a tag {phg},

<span style=" text-indent:-4em; margin-left:4em; ">

but this did not work.

If anyone has been able to effect a hanging paragraph please share how it may be accomplished.

It seems you where almost there, by changing span to div and margin to padding, I could get it working:

<div style="text-indent:-4em; padding-left:4em;">

Using

rather than effects a hanging paragraph.
However, it also produces unwanted space between each division.
I have tried the following:

<div style=" text-indent:-2em; padding-left:2em;padding-bottom:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-bottom:0em;padding-top:0em; ">

but without success.
If Rafeelerm, or anyone, has something that works in this regard please let me know.

Sorry, I had not seen that. The solution is a hack and may or may not cause other problems, so use with caution (adding a float to the div):

<div style="text-indent:-4em; padding-left:4em;margin:0;float:left;">

I do not think that a cleaner solution is possible with the amount of control over CSS that we currently have.

This float hack of your's works just fine.

It would be great if it was applied globally in OpenLP, or at least a theme option.

I ran in one problem, but found a work around:

When I had a verse set up as follows:

---[Verse:1]---

{su}1{/su} 

{phg}Father of lights, in whom there is no  shadow,{/phg}

The verse number would display at the end of the line.

However, when arranged as follows

---[Verse:1]---

{phg}{su}1{/su} Father of lights, in whom there is no  shadow,{/phg}

The verse number displays right where we'd like.

Noticed a small overlap of the gs, ps, and ys which I've overcome by adding - padding-bottom: 0.1em;

<div style=" text-indent: -1em;  padding-left: 1em; padding-bottom: 0.1em; margin:0; float: left; ">

I was hoping you could surround the entire verse with the tab and get outdenting for each line. But I see everything after the first line in the verse is indented. Oh, well.

Each line has to be enclosed, as in the following verse:

I use a tag phg for a paragraph with hanging text.

And enter the following for the css:

Start tag

<div style=" text-indent: -1em;  padding-left: 1em; padding-bottom: 0.1em; margin:0; float: left; ">

End tag
