Recently it occurred to me that OpenLP is able to do basic IMAG pretty easily. VLC can display a webcam stream, so running VLC behind OpenLP with a transparent background theme would be a cheap IMAG system. OpenLP can display text over the webcam video, but would a"lower third" graphic be possible? It doesn't appear you can apply a theme to an image, so that you could have an image that only takes up a sliver on the bottom of the screen and the rest has a transparent background. And OpenLP doesn't appear to support gif's featuring transparent portions -- it just displays it as black.
So, am I missing a clever solution to this? Could I do IMAG with lower thirds like the big boys do with nothing more than a webcam and along usb cable to connect it to the 'puter? Thanks!
