You might want to download an alternative desktop environment for Ubuntu. I'm currently using 'Cinnamon' on a laptop that is running Ubuntu 16.04 for some radio server/streaming work. I've not tried it on a second monitor to know if the titlebars appear on this particular one, but there are other desktop environments that you can use. I'm sure @raoul will be able to help as I'm pretty sure that Ubuntu is his OS of choice!

(Edit: Turns out I'm probably wrong on Raoul's chosen OS!)

(Alternatively, when an emergency at church at the turn of the year found myself confronted with the same problem, I ended up downloading something that allowed me to tweak the Unity interface, and I set the bar to black. You could still see the clock and the program title, but thankfully our projector is weak on the edges so unless you knew it was there you couldn't see it! At that point, I didn't know that alternative desktop environments was an option as I only found that out recently. I forget what this third-party program was, but I wouldn't actually recommend it now anyway!)
