@Threep I don't use Windows, so I cannot tell you for sure, but I'm pretty sure that the two most recent versions of PowerPoint should work. I'll have to see if one of our Windows folks can confirm.
@Brendan we had some issues with generating the Linux packages (we ran into some issues due to moving our code from one platform to another), but we fully intend on having packages available for the various Linux distributions for all the other releases.
Hi
guys, would you like to do me a great favor? I wanted to switch to
V.3.0 but one very important feature doesn't work anymore and it
would be awesome if you could fix that.
In
church we have a network hard drive which is reachable by VPN also
from home. On this hard drive we store the stuff for the service that
we use every week, like countdown.mp4, announcements.odp, welcome.jpg
etc. Most of this files are the same every Sunday but a few are
edited during the week e. g. announcements.odp.
So what
we do every week before the service is, that we open our
template.oszl which has already inserted the 6 very needed files like
countdown, announcements.odp etc. We just have to insert the songs, sermon and maybe a
picture.
This
procedure worked well with 2.4.6 but it doesn’t work with 3.0
anymore and the problems are the edited files e. g.
announcements.odp. If I do not edit any file it works fine to reload
*.oszl but if I edit the file (of course without changing the path or
filename) it doesn’t load *.oszl.
Does
anyone know what I mean and is it possible to make sure that this
important feature will work again in the stable version?
@justme Could you be a bit more specific about what happens when you tried to load the oszl file? Any errors? Perhaps posting the debug log would help. Read here for a guide: https://manual.openlp.org/troubleshooting.html#i-have-been-asked-to-email-a-debug-log-where-do-i-find-this
@tgc Hi, thx for asking and sorry it is a bit different than I wrote.
If I open the template.oszl again (after saving it the first time after including the presentation etc.) it doesn't matter if I edit the announcements or not. I can open pictures and movies but if I try to open a presentation I got the message
„Missing Display Handler
Your item cannot be displayed as the plugin required to display it is missing or inactive“
And I ran OLP as a portable version and I could‘t find the logfile but there is a error.log file and it is attached.
And by the way I used the file announcements.pptx because announcements.odt crashed OLP (maybe x64-version of Libreoffice???).
I hope that helps. If you need further information just let me know.
Hi, just wondering how far away a beta and final release of version 3 might be? Hoping there's a bit more development time available with normal life on hold at this time ;-) Thanks #StaySafe
My church replaced their main PC because the old one needed to go. I tried this 2.9 version out of curiosity. I know I can't go back to the previous stable version because it updated the database.
We are a small church so we don't have much data so I don't mind starting all over again. Is there a way to completely wipe out all traces of v2.9 so I can downgrade to the previous stable version? I can edit the registry if needed.
The idea is to open the data folder, shut down OpenLP then delete the Data directory. Uninstall OpenLP 2.90. Once that is done you use Regedit to remove the OpenLP folder in the registry. Reinstall version 2.4.6 and it should re-create everything.

Will there be a ubuntu package available for testing?

Thank you for your time.
For windows 10 it is a simple 2 step process of removing the data directory and the registry entries.
Check out this discussion and see if it helps.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I kept forgetting to delete that folder in the hidden roaming folder.
