In preparing services at home on may Mac and OpenLP (2.9.3) when attempting to use Formatting Tags for odd lines in songs or Bible texts. They do not work. Nothing happens. On our Windows PC at church it does work? What am I missing? Is this a known bug or is it me?
Comments
I'm not a frequent user of formatting tags, so it would help me if you could post an example of what doesn't work on your Mac.
I also use a Mac and that makes me doubly interested to test what happens with the tags!
Cheers,
Andrew
When I use Formatting Tags, nothing works!! Opening & closing tags are not around the selected text. i.e. select a song with a chorus, edit all, select the chorus, right click and select formatting tags, the bold, italic etc will not select. Preferences do not include Formatting Tags they are under Settings/Formatting tags. But even when choosing New, nothing sticks/holds. This is not life threatening but annoying!!
Which version of OpenLP do you have on each computer? Are they the same?
Versions of OpenLP at home and church are identical versions. As I wrote before when attempting to select the various Formatting Tags, the program will not select them. Just dead!! Trying to send an image/attachment but I keep getting an error message!
Can you copy a few lines of a song with a chorus, as you mentioned before, and paste it into a message on here? Okay, maybe a bit more than a few lines, but don't fill up the whole screen!
That would eliminate the need for an image or an attachment. But we would still see what you are doing.
This is a screenshot of a chorus of a Stuart Townend song - the chorus. When I highlight, as shown, then right-click to apply formatting then the Formatting Tags are not active.
Sorry for my late reply.
When you say that the Formatting Tags are not active, do you mean that you can see the tags (with the pop out menu) but can't use them? Or is it something different?
The formatting tags are there but do not work. Do not highlight. What can I say - inactive, dead, deceased etc etc,!!
I think, @semper means select text, "right click" (at least in Windows), context menu, Formatting Tags menu item is not working.
I'm sorry, there are still so many variables involved, I'm trying to determine exactly what isn't working.
Are the items in the formatting tags menu not working when you click on them? Are you able to click on the menu items at all?
Are the formatting tags themselves being inserted, but don't seem to have any effect on the display?
You've been watching too much Monty Python (or not enough)!
Yes, that's the same as I'm getting now, too.
@raoul when right-clicking (on a word, for example) the sub-menu pops out showing Formatting Tags at the top of that menu. Other items such as copy and paste are lower down in that pop out menu. If I then hold the mouse over Formatting Tags, the Tag names appear, but they are not clickable.
I hope this helps.
