Stolen laptop - help!

edited June 4 in General Support

Hello.

I’m not very technical so bear with me!

I’ve had a bad day so far. I had the church laptop in the boot of my car and it has been broken into and stolen. I know it shouldn’t be there so please don’t lecture me! I’ve also lost a bunch of other stuff so it is going to be a very expensive day. ☹️

I now need to get something sorted for Sunday morning which I think will be ok. I’ll try and download OpenLP into my personal laptop and use that.

There were thousands of songs on the church laptop version of OpenLP which are now lost. Is there a shortcut to getting a bunch of songs into the laptop or do I just have to start from scratch? As far as I know there are no backups.I

Any help, ideas, or top tips gratefully received.

Blessings,

Nick

    From where?

As far as I know there are no backups.

None, nothing? Sorry to say — but it looks like your bad day just got worse.

As I understand OpenLP has an export/import functionality, but there has to be something exported to (re)import. Of course having a (backup) copy of the OpenLP song database is far preferable. Someone else may have other/better news/solution but I don't believe there is.

Wish there was a better answer for you...

  • Hi Nickw,

Maybe you have some OpenLP service files stored on a USB drive or onto another PC.

Reopening OpenLP service files on the new PC may restore the songs to the OpenLP db.
