When I try to present a powerpoint, powerpoint loads in the background, but does not show up on my live pane, nor on the display screen. It does load up in the background, and when i hover over it, i can show it. So powerpoint itself seems to be fine. Also previewing works fine.
(https://youtu.be/M4pbZArtoqo video of what is happening when i try)
I used to use version 2.4.6 and never encountered powerpoint issues with that. then i upgraded to 2.9.4 and issues started. I only use openlp on some big events once a year. Two years ago, i used 2.4.6 and no issues with powerpoint. Last year i upgraded to 2.9.4 and it didn't run like it should, i tried a lot of things, without result, it was still an unstable release, so i sort of expected it to be fine next stable release, so try again next year. But now im prepping for this year, and wanted to try if powerpoint would work this time around, so just downloaded the newest version, but im still encountering issues. Because there is such a large gap in between the times i use openlp its hard to pinpoint exactly what has changed that is causing the problem.
If i turn off the setting to let powerpoint control the size and monitor of the presentations, i do get a presentation on the right screen, but it is only a quarter of the size of the display.if i turn on the setting to let powerpoint control size and monitor of presentation, powerpoint loads up a powerpoint, but its now showing up on my display screen. last year, when I was hooked up to the projector, it did sometimes open up the powerpoint, but it was extremely slow, animations took about a minute, going to the next slide took a good 10 seconds to react, and if i would go from one powerpoint to another, openlp would freeze. i tried libreoffice, which was slightly faster, but still way too slow.
what i tried:
make my laptop screen the main display and the monitor the one to project ontried with override powerpoint on and offmanually set display screens in powerpoint (solved it from trying to project on my main screen, but still didn't show up)removed ms office and did a clean install, because office was behaving a bit weird sometimes anyways. try with libreofficetried to repair the openlp installeventually when trying some stuff with the powerpoint last year, the presentation plugin disabled itself, so i removed everything and did a clean install (i did end up copy pasting the plugin files for the presentations plugin back in the data folder a couple of times because it kept disabling (don't know if that might have broken anything)i tried the portable version but same problems
Ive been struggling with it about a week last year, and now ive been trying all the different settings and things for a couple of hours again, but i really don't see what i could still do about it.
last year I ended up going to view desktop, and then immediately start the powerpoint, but that obviously looks very unprofessional, and it is a fuss for the one operating the projection as well, so I hope anyone can help me so we can do it the way it is supposed to this year.
