Hello,
i just readed the forum and have seen, that you want to develope a Linux Version. Great !!!
For Brothers and Sisters who dont want to wait: I try at the moment, if it works on ubuntu with wine.
The Installation was not complicate and I can open the program :-)
I will let you know, how it will be.

Don't bother yourself with wine installation. The upcoming version is written in python and completely platform independent. The upstream code in BZR already is in somewhat usable state, so you could go ahead and try it out first to know if this already works for you.
Also please don't hesitate to leave your feedback for bug reports/feature requests or just your use case either. You could use bug tracker or IRC for direct conversation.

I need to state that the previously mentioned approach is still highly experimental and not suggested for real environment unless you are *really* adventurous.
Also, bug reports aren't welcome yet, see gushie reply: http://openlp.org/en/forums/development/bug_reports/update_dialouge_box_text_incompletly_shown.html
