<p>Check the laptop's own setting. Most laptops have a key combination of Fn and an F key (like F5 or F7) to set up dual monitors. I've noticed that laptops these days usually have 3 or 4 settings:</p>
Clone (same thing on both monitors)
Here only (laptop screen used, other monitor blank)
There only (other monitor used, laptop screen blank)
Extended desktop (the one we want)
<p>I'd suggest first making sure you have the right setting on your laptop - it will completely override anything Windows tries.</p>
