The projector then just shows up in yellow, and doesn't offer any control. Any ideas anyone?

1 - What version of OpenLP are you running (under Help -> About)
2 - What operating system and version are you running it on?
3 - Can you send a log file of when this happens?
See https://manual.openlp.org/troubleshooting.html#what-information-should-i-include-in-a-bug-report
on what information would be helpful as well as the next section below that for sending a log file.
The version is 2.4.6 on Windows 10 (version 1709)
I've attached the logfile
OK - if you could start OpenLP with the debug option and try to see if you can get the same error. After you get the error and close the program, I would like to see the debug log that was generated.
To enable debug mode and post the logfile, see
https://manual.openlp.org/troubleshooting.html#i-have-been-asked-to-email-a-debug-log-where-do-i-find-this
Remember, this will create a LOT of text, so don't post it here, but follow the instructions on copying the log file text to somewhere like https://pastebin.com then post the link here instead of the log file text.
Apparently ViewSonic is among the growing list of manufacturers that _says_ their equipment is PJLink compliant. Unfortunately, this is an example of the manufacturer not writing their code to _full_ compliance.
Originally, it was the request for PJLink class version the projector supports - and one of several companies that send non-standard formatted information.
Your current issue is a first that I've seen where an extra information request only sent part of the PJLink-specified information.
I will have a fix for that problem soon.
Thanks again.
Just to let you know, it appears that the 2.4 series of OpenLP will no longer be supported for non-security related fixes. OpenLP v3.0 will have a fix for this issue, but I'm unsure of the exact date when OLP 3.0 will be available. With that said, the 3.0 version should be available soonish.
I will update this post when I have more information available.
