Limiting video display area...

Temporary accommodation for the next couple of years, so we've been building out tech this week.  Unfortunately we haven't quite got eh right hardware for mounting the projector at the correct angle, so for this weekend I need to push content down the screen.

That's fine for words, I know how to do that...

Is it possible/easy for video content?
PPT?

  • Video should match songs, but presentations are another matter. OpenLP just uses your presentation software to show the presentation, so it's pretty much up to the presentation software as to how it displays your presentations.
  • There are two options I came across (and actually didn't use either because a good poke on the projector made it work well enough.)

The words can be moved around using the theme definitions.
The screen can be limited by the menu I pointed at earlier.

Screen limits affect the video and words, PPT does it's own thing...

One thing that I'd like to suggest as a useful setup feature.. is the ability to have the theme 'adjust the borders' actually sent to the projector, so that you can see what you're doing rather than guessing all the time.
Having the screen limits similarly sent to the relevant output would also be good.

Sorry, I'm not understanding what you're saying, could you try to explain it more please?
  • Apologies for the very delayed response...

When adjusting the borders of a theme - it would be good to be able to have the theme preview sent to the display.

In our case (not any more) there were physical obstructions to the screen, so we were having to guess how far down the screen we should bring everything, and going through the whole theme editor each time was tedious.

If we could have had the theme on the big screen whilst adjusting the positioning then we could have dialled it in pretty easily - adjust the borders and see in real time what the effect is on the position of text, to avoid the archway which cut off the top corners of the screens.

  • Aah! I understand now. That's an interesting idea, and I can see how it would be very helpful.
