Self-duplicating slides

I am using OpenLP 2.1.6 on Windows 10.

We have just upgraded.

The first time I edited a custom slide, I ended up with a new slide.

The second time I edited a custom slide, I ended up with a new slide.

The third time I edited a custom slide, I ended up with only one slide as expected.

I now have two new slides and two old slides. One pair has the same title, the other pair I changed the title.

This seems to be a bug, and I will keep my eyes open to see how things go. OpenLP is working fine and stable.

I shall have to try it more often to find out.

So far no other slides have self-duplicated, but these two refuse to die.

I will delete the extra slide. Later on I will edit the remaining one and it will duplicate again. I always seem to have an old and a new version of these two. Other slides do not exhibit this behaviour.

What can I do to find the cause? Something is wrong somewhere, but I don't know how to debug it.

I wonder whether some of us are seeing odd behaviours due to doing several upgrades from one version to another. I had a weird problem with shortcuts at one point that seemed to go away after I did a fresh installation and imported my songs.

This might be something worth trying?

Thanks Paul, that is a good idea. A part of me always wants to know why. I guess that part will have to do without this time.

You can try looking in the log file to see if that shows you anything worthwhile.

I have not been able to find out yet. It still happens on just two slides. I am a persistent person, but a little busy right now. I will get around to investigating in depth. It's so peculiar.

I just had a 'duh' moment.

There seems to be a new option in OpenLP under the menu item for custom slides.

It says "Import missing custom slides from service file."

So every time I change my custom slide, it might be that the old version is imported when I open the service.

And then I have two versions. Or three.

Having found that option, I have now deselected it.

We'll see.
